What is Amara?
Amara Yoga & Arts is a yoga studio and art gallery serving the Champaign-Urbana area. We offer over 40 drop-in yoga classes weekly in a variety of styles, workshops, teacher training, kids yoga and art classes and summer camps.
Drinking tea is known to improve your health. In Ayurvedic practice, tea is understood to balance the PH of the blood to keep you healthy and well. At Amara we honor your presence by sharing tea with you at the beginning or end of each practice. We believe that sharing tea with your teachers and your yoga community will improve your health and nurture your spirit, creating connection and wellness.
Our goal is to make people feel nurtured, welcome and comfortable and to share the practice of yoga with every person who joins us. We believe that yoga is for Every Body, even babies and kids. Our beautiful studio with two separate practice spaces is the perfect place to take time out and care for yourself with a cup of tea and some yoga. Get your Bliss Om!
Amara is the English nickname for the flower name Amaranth, meaning “unfading” or “immortal". In Greek mythology, the flower Amaranth grew on Mount Olympus, where it never died. We named our studio gallery after this flower to reflect our belief that both art and yoga help keep us vital in mind, body, and spirit.
